Can the credential reader be changed on a CO-Series lockset?

On power-up the CO-Series locksets will provide 5 quick RED Schlage Button flashes and 5 quick beeps to indicate that the electronics (credential reader) has been changed.  In order to recover and utilize the new electronics (credential Reader) follow these instructions:

-  The electronics (credential Reader) MUST be the exact same credential type as the original unit provided from the factory.  It is not possible to change the credential type of a CO-Series lockset in the field.

-   The lockset MUST be returned to its "Factory Default" state.  See notes section for a link to the CO-Series User Guide and the appropriate "Factory Default Reset" process.

When/If the electronics (Credential Reader) changed on a CO-Series lockset, the lock will respond with 3 RED Schlage button flashes and 3 beeps for any key press or credential presentation.  The lock must be RESET before the replaced electronics (credential Reader) can be used.  See notes section for a link to the CO-Series User Guide and the appropriate "Factory Default Reset" process.

CO Reader Modules cannot be replaced by Reader Modules with a different credential type; for example, a magnetic swipe credential reader cannot be replaced with a proximity credential reader.

A Credential Reader MAY be replaced with another Credential Reader of the same type; however, a Factory Default Reset must be performed before the lock will function properly.
