Schlage MTMS15 and MTMSK15 Reader Compatiblity with CT5000

The Schlage MTMS15 and MTMSK15 readers are multi-technology readers designed to work across many different types of systems.

Since there are many different magstripe clock/data formats, the MTMS15 and MTMSK15 readers may need to be uniquely configured to function on certain systems.

Magstripe Output:

The CT5000 connected magstripe readers require a special factory configuration. The Schlage readers can be ordered with this configuration or a configuration card can be used to convert readers in the field.

New readers should be ordered with configuration option: CE-401-062

The configuration card necessary for in the field reader converting is: CE-401-062 “Enable CT5000 Compatibility Clock and Data”.

This CE-401-062 configuration option allows MTMS magstripe reader to emulate the SMR5/10/20 data output, making it compatible with the CT5000. Keypad and contactless card functionality is preserved.

Keypad Output:

The MTMSK15 keypad default output is 8-bit burst.

For Manual Programming of CT5000, the keypad MUST be in either 8-bit burst or 4-bit burst output.

The keypad also has a 26-bit Wiegand emulation output, which is incompatible for manual programming with the CT5000.

All reader keypad outputs can be configured directly at the reader keypad with power on programming outlined below:

1. Turn power on to the reader. The following step will have to be completed within a minute of the reader gaining power.

2. Enter *88889999 on the keypad

The LED on the reader will turn green and a short triple-beep will sound indicating that the reader is ready to have the keypad format entered. The user has five seconds to enter the keypad format.

3. Enter the Keypad format.

a. For a 4 bit burst, enter 01

b. For a 8 bit burst, enter *0

c. For a 26 bit Wiegand, enter # followed by a three digit facility code between 000 and 255.

Example 1 (all numbers are in decimal): With a fixed facility code of 96 the user would enter  #096.

Example 2 (all numbers are in decimal): With a fixed facility code of 128 the user would enter  #128.

Note: In the 26 bit format the PIN must be a number between 1 and 65535.

The CE-401-062 configuration card can be ordered by dealers.
