New Design (after May 2018) AD-series and CO-series 993M - Spindle Hub Plate Binding on Mortise Case

In May 2018, the AD-series and CO-series trims were overhauled to a new full-length body design, replacing the old short-body-with-long-plate trim that had been in use since product launch.

The initial redesign, however, encountered problems with 993M (mortise exit trim) installations where the spindle would bind or rub into the mortise case of the exit device. As there was no longer a thin plate spacing the hub off the door, the hub would sink into the borehole and interact with the case.

As of Aug 21, 2020, all new 993M locks use a standard AD-CO series cylindrical lock spindle, replacing the spindle-and-hub design.  Please contact tech support if there is a lock with this issue:  877-671-7011, options 2, 2, 1.

If needing to install correct spindle, please follow the instructions below, or follow this YouTube Tutorial, or download this manual.

Step 1:
Remove Screws from hub plate. Remove the Back Plate, Hub and Spring from the Outside Assembly: these are no longer needed.
Make sure Triangular symbols are aligned as shown in the image before performing Step 2.

Step: 2
Install Spindle into Outside Assembly.
Make sure long end of spindle (from c-clip/retainer ring) is into the body of the lock.
