How do you reset a biometric F-Series handreader with dip switch settings?

Caution: Resetting/cold booting a biometric handreader resets the handreader to factory default settings and erases the user database.

To reset or cold boot a biometric F-Series handreader with dip switch settings:

  • With system power OFF, set both switches 4 and 5 ON.
  • Turn system power ON and wait until "Ready" is displayed on a HandKey or until "Enter ID" is displayed on a HandPunch.
  • Turn both switches 4 and 5 OFF.

NOTE: Before putting the handreader into service, check that dip switches 4 and 5 are both set to OFF. If dip switches 4 and 5 are not set to OFF, the next time the handreader's power is cycled, i.e. unplugged and plugged back in, the handreader’s memory will be erased.

To warm boot a biometric F-Series handreader with dip switch settings and retain the user database:

  • With the system power OFF, set switch 5 OFF.
  • With system power OFF, set switch 4 ON.
  • Turn system power ON and wait until "Ready" is displayed on a HandKey or until "Enter ID" is displayed on a HandPunch.
  • Turn switch 4 OFF.
