Can an additional jamb anchor be used as a base anchor on fire rated frames?

Yes, an additional jamb anchor can be used at the bottom of the frame in lieu of the typical (adjustable or weld-in) base anchor in fire rated frames.

  1. This is limited to the anchor designed for use in wood or steel stud walls and frames installed into existing masonry walls using expansion anchors.
  2. The anchor must be located a maximum of 6" from bottom of the jamb.
  3. This applies to all frames fire rated and non-fire rated.
