Power up the 692, several self test beeps should occur and the internal relay will cycle then it will become silent
In normal operation breaking the 692 optical beam will trip the internal contacts of a form c relay.
Check the relays to verify the relay contacts have transitioned. The relays have no direct effect on the horn sounding.
If a continuous tone is heard it indicates one of the two optical beams could be been block for more than 15 seconds. If this occurs check for visible obstruction of the beams. If none are found then one of the optical boards likely has failed.
Beeps twice intermittently: the optics are exposed to excessive light.
