Why doesn't the AD-Series-Exit Device communicate with the Hand Held Device after rehanding the lockset?

During the rehanding of an AD-Series Exit (993) device or the rehanding of a CO-Series Exit (993) device it is possible for the customer to damage the 5-inch pcba by using the wrong screws.  During the rehandling process a customer can switch the spring cage screws with the Exit mounting Plate, Spacer screws. This results in using longer screws that will dig into the 5-inch pcba. These wrong screws are (1/4 inch) longer and will make contact with the 5-inch pcba causing the USB to not communicate with the Hand Held Device (HHD). See Figure below:
