Steelcraft offers two optional types of reinforcements for open section header to be installed in distributor shop or in the field:
Full profile sleeve; is a 14 gauge, 16" long part to fit the profile of a standard double rabbet profile frame with 2" face. Once installed it will cover/reinforce all surfaces of the frame. To install slide sleeve to position required. (Install sleeve prior to assembling the head to the jambs) Bend the tab over the end of the frame head. If the tab will not extend far enough to bend, tack weld the sleeve into position.
Half sleeve; is a 14 gage, 8" long part to fit the profile of a standard double rabbet profile frame with 2" face. Once installed it will cover/reinforce the pull side (RA) face, the door rabbet and the full width of stop/cap (PA) of frame head. it can be installed before or after frame is assembled. It is recommended to consult closer template for the location prior to locking sleeve into position with a hammer and screw driver.
