ASTM E-119 is a test standard for walls, partitions and floor or roof systems:

 

  1. This test standard is also used for ceramic type glasses when used as window wall and/or borrowed light frames.
  2. Assemblies are considered fire barrier systems, temperature control and with special framing systems are part of the wall.

 

Fire WindowFrames are available (depending on the type of glazing being used) with the following ratings:

  • 20 min
  • 3/4 hour(45 min)
  • 1 hour(60 min) - DW series window frames have a maximum of 1 hr(60 minute)
  • 1 1/2 hour(90 min)

Hollow Metal Fire Window Frames frames are tested in accordance to UL9 and NFPA 257 for fire protection and rated glazing materials must be installed in these assemblies.



Notes

A fire window frame is a 4 sided hollow metal elevation with windows but no door and is listed for a fire rating.
