What is the P valve on the LCN 4050A Closer used for?

This P valve or PA selector valve on the LCN 4050A closer is a "Backcheck selector valve" that needs to be turned in on "Parallel Arm" mount applications ONLY. If this valve is not turned in on Parallel Arm mounts, the Backcheck function will not engage until about 120 degrees of swing or later. Screwing this valve in will allow the backcheck function to engage at about 70 degrees.
