Will mag locks operate with voltage ranges between 12vdc and 24vdc?

The entire series of mag locks that Schlage provides advertises 12vdc or 24vdc because they will automatically determine what voltage is being used and switch the internal circuitry based on that voltage.  Between approximately 14vdc and 19vdc the circuitry switches between a series and a parallel configuration.  If someone were to use 15vdc as an example then they could cause the magnet to act unpredictably which could cause problems for both the power supply or the magnet causing one or both to fail much sooner than designed.  It is important to stay with either 12vdc or 24vdc to avoid these possible issues.
