Why would a SD (special dogging) device dog itself when the push bar is engaged?

The cam on the mortise cylinder must be inverted.  The cylinder cam then sits against the dogging peg so the dogging hook can't engage with it. If the cam is not inverted, the device dogging hook will catch the dogging peg when the push pad is depressed. Invert the cam on the Mortise cylinder per step 1and 2 of the installation instructions.

Note: Based on this design, if someone wants to eliminate the SD feature from an exit device, there are two options:

1. Set the device to an undogged position and discard the keys.

2. Remove the dogging peg so the dogging hook can't engage with it. A standard center case cover can be substituted for the SD cover.
