Why is there a transient voltage suppressor included with my electric strike?

ANSI BHMA 156.13 has a provision for inductive kickback.  Using the transient suppressor across the strike's solenoid wires allows this standard to be met.  This would be most applicable if the strike were on the same circuit as an access control board which may be susceptible to spikes.  Otherwise, the suppressor does not help or hurt strike operation.

To install the transient voltage suppressor, bare the wires on the electric strike, then wrap or solder the suppressor wires around the strike wires.

The TVS is shipped in 6100/6200 strike series screw pack #900288.
