Why is the F51 unlocking when the interior lever/knob is used?

The Schlage F51 is designed to open when the interior lever is pushed down, this is an intended feature of the lockset and can not be disabled. Schlage does offer a model without this feature called the J54 that stays in the position that the internal thumb turn is placed in.
