Why is the 613 finish is wearing off my lever?

Authentic oil rubbed bronze finish, or finish code 613 oil rubbed bronze will wear over time due to the “rubbed” finishing method which does not allow application of a protective coating or plating.

Please note that ANSI/BHMA A156.18 (American National Standard for Materials and Finishes) categorizes oil rubbed bronze finish as a "Category B" finish. The aforementioned standard states: "Category B finishes are those that are unstable and that vary when applied to different alloys and forms of base material. These finishes shall be compatible with the BHMA matchplates, but these finishes cannot and do not match from one alloy or form of material to the next, and from one manufacturer to the next."
