Why is my Von Duprin M996L lever trim not operating in its configured Fail Safe or Fail Secure mode?

Please reference your M996 instructions along with this article.   Instructions can be searched by clicking HERE

  1. Locate the  small DIP switch near the motor assembly on the back of the trim.
  2. Verity the switch is set for the proper mode:  FS (Fail Safe)  or FSE (Fail Secure)
  3. Remove and apply power to the trim at lease 2 times.  If the trim is connected to an access control system,  you can use a valid credential to toggle power.
  4. Verify the trim is now operating properly.

Note that if the DIP switch was set prior to installation,  but the trim was not power cycled at that time,  you need to do step 3 above.
