Why do I see reports of “FORCED DOOR” in my NDE audits?
1) Excessive "Forced Doors" are reported when the latch and strike are misaligned and not engaged. In one case students were just pushing through the door causing "Forced Door" alerts. Correct the strike and latch action to eliminate push troughs.
Check the AUDIT - NDE ENGAGE audits in this case would show little or no credential reads when the door is being push open by students.
2) A NDE with defective RX switch or RX cable/connector will report a "Forced Door" when people exit. Commissioning NDE requires a working RX; but defectives were found after commissioning that resulted many "Forced Door" alerts during exits.
Check the AUDIT - NDE ENGAGE audits will show no "Request to Exit" events when the RX switch is broken or not connected.
3) Turning and holding the inside lever will cause a RX event; but if the lever is held for several seconds, the NDE forgets the RX occurred; so if after a pause the door is opened to exit a "Forced Door" will be reported in this slow motion departure.
4) If you use the mechanical key for the NDE/LE, it will also show "Forced Door"
Check the AUDIT - NDE ENGAGE audits with a "Request to Exit" followed immediately a few seconds later by a "Forced Door" alert, is a person holding down the inside lever for several seconds before opening the door to leave.
Installation requirements,
You must install the ANSI strike Magnet Tray or the T- Strike magnet, per the installation instructions for the DPS to function correctly. Magnets are used to detect the door open and close.
Be sure the ANSI strike that is installed in the door frame is the one provided with the NDE and is non-ferrous, not one from a previous lock installation that might block the magnetic field.
If needed you can open the ENGAGE mobile application, and CONNECT to the lock to repeat the “Calibration” for the DPS
Be sure the latch properly engages in the strike and the door correctly latches to avoid forced doors.
