Why am I getting "cannot save code" when adding new codes in Schlage Home?

The Schlage Home app may be displaying this message due to a communication error with your lock. There are a few things you can try to resolve this issue. 

 

  1. Check for updates on your device to ensure you are on the latest version of Android or IOS.
  2. Ensure the lock has power and there is a Wi-Fi connection available for the lock to connect to.
  3. Ensure your phone has a good data connection.
  4. Uninstall and reinstall the application.
  5. Sign out and back into the app then wait for the lock icon to appear on the home screen before trying to re-add or delete the code again. 
  6. Attempt a soft reset on the lock.
    For the Schlage Encode and Encode Plus you will need to remove the battery pack from the unit, unlock the unit, reinsert the battery pack, then quickly lock and unlock the unit using the internal thumbturn. The unit will light up the keypad and beep after a few seconds. 
    For the Schlage Sense simply disconnect and reconnect the battery pack and power cycle the BR400 Schlage Sense network adapter or the device responsible for the locks Apple HomeKit connection. 
  7. Delete all existing codes and re-add them 
    Prior to performing this steps take note of the individual access codes that you are wanting to keep as they will have to be re-entered. 
    Launch your Schlage Home app and locate the desired lock.
    Go to the icon in the lower right hand corner of the screen (double people icon).
    This will take you to the "Manage Users" screen where you can select the "Delete All Access Codes" button in red at the bottom of the screen. 
    Once deleted Re-enter the access codes you want to have in the lock 
     

If the above steps did not resolve the issue then perform a Factory default reset on your lock before pairing the lock to the Schlage Home app again.
