When the HHD is plugged in the error "USB device not recognized" pops up

Issue: When I plug in the HHD (Hand Held Device) to the computer, I get an error message that says "USB device not recognized"

Environment: Nexia Property Intelligence for Multi-Family Developments

Cause: A possible corruption has happened  within Windows Mobile Device Center or ActiveSync (program that allows the HHD to communicate information)

Resolution:

  1. Go to the Device Manager and remove the HHD device (this will show as an unknown device)
  2. Uninstall WMDC (Windows Mobile Device Center - Windows 7) or ActiveSync (Windows XP)
  • Locate WMDC or ActiveSync in the Control Panel in the Programs and Features option
  1. Reinstall WMDC or ActiveSync (according to the operating system the computer is running)
  2. Plug in the HHD (Hand Held Device)
  3. Uninstall NSM (Nexia Service Manager) Then Reinstall
  • Start Button > Search Nexia Service Manager > Right click and delete all short-cuts
  • Task Manager > Right Click andEnd processes on both NexiaServiceManager items
  • Control Panel > Programs and Features > Locate Nexia Service Manager (there may be two) Right Click to Uninstall

Reinstall NSM (Nexia Service Manager) by going to http://www.nexiapro.com and log into your site. A Yellow yield sign will appear momentarily in the top right corner. Click this icon to go to the next screen to re download the NSM.

Plug in the HHD device, ensuring that it is on the blue home screen. A confirmation message will appear that the HHD is connected and doors will now be able to be programmed.
