For a simple application with a card reader and 1or 2 QEL devices, a PS902 x 900-2RS is required.
The QEL device has a 1 amp inrush of 24VDC to retract the exit device latch, and then it requires .14 amps to keep the latch held retracted.
The PS902 is a 2 amp, 24VDC regulated, filtered power supply.
The 900-2RS option board is plugged into the PS902, and it serves three functions:
1. It serves as a relay to isolate the card reader switch (or other input switch) from the 1 amp inrush of the QEL device.
2. It has screw terminals which provide a convenient place to land the input and output wires.
3. When two QEL devices are being powered, the option board can be used to select Individual or Sequential operation of the devices.
For more complex applications with other hardware components (such as auto operators), the power supply and option board requirements will vary. Consult Product Support.
