What is the procedure to successfully change the Credential Reader or Credential Reader type on a AD-Series lock?

Resolution; Procedure to change AD-Series READERS

The process to change the Credential Reader on an AD-Series lock is as follows:

Note: It is important that the FW in the LOCK and READER are the same revision package AdFwPkgXX; therefore the latest version of FW must always be loaded on the LOCK SET after the reader is changed.

1- Remove power from the lock;

- Disconnect the battery cable or

o Remove a battery from the battery pack

- AD300 must have the wired Com Board power removed,

2- Remove the inside lock upper plate

3-Remove the two screws that secure the READER

4- Install the different type reader following the AD-Series Installation Instructions. (See Schlage Technical Support)

5- Apply power, attached the batteries or Comm Board power (AD300 )

Allow 20 seconds for the power-up reset to complete.

6- To insure compatible LOCK and READER firmware; update the lock with the latest AdFwPkgXX-XX.ffp file (see Schlage Technical Support below)

- Connect the HHD to the AD-Series USB connector and press the Schlage key twice

- Couple by holding down the IPB key and press the TAMPER switch three times.

- Select “Firmware Update” and the newest FW package on your SUS and update the lock firmware.

7- Test and check the lock for proper operation.

- For a Key pad reader, a key press will beep, and the Schlage key will back light the keys.

- A working card reader will beep when a correct format card is presented. One red Schlage key flash means the card was read but the lock is not programmed for access, or is not connected to an access control panel.

Two red Schlage flashes indicates the card was read and access was denied by the door file or the access control panel. A green flash means the card was read and granted access.
