What is the maximum door undercut for fire rated vertical rod exit devices?

For devices with bottom latches and strikes, the maximum undercut is 1/4" to ensure latching in the case of a fire.

For devices approved without bottom latches and strikes, using the AFL (auxiliary fire latch) instead, the only consideration is fire code.  NFPA80-2019 Section 4.8.4.1 allows a maximum of ¾” undercut.
