What is the firmware update procedure for Gateway?

Gateway uses the ENGAGE "SoftAP" mode to update firmware.

The basic outline is below, see this Technical Note for details:

1)     First load the new firmware on your mobile device using the mobile Wi-Fi or data service

a.      In the Gateway partner site, go to “Advanced" > "Get Firmware"
 This will load a local copy of the Gateway firmware on your mobile device.

2)     To transfer the copy of Gateway firmware from your mobile device to the Gateway

a.      "Connect" to the Gateway with the Mobile Application

b.     Select "Update Firmware"  

 

Note: In "SoftAP" mode, the Gateway and mobile device communicate directly with Wi-Fi.

 

The Gateway Wi-Fi SSID will be the Gateway commissioned name, and the password is already stored by ENGAGE in your iOS file ready to paste when requested

 

3)     Open your mobile device "Settings" menu and using "CHOOSE A NETWORK” find the Gateway name (SSID) and connect the mobile Wi-Fi to the Gateway

 

Note: If you are asked for a password, it is already saved in your mobile device clip board. Use the mobile device clip board to PASTE the password into the password field.  (See the attached Technical Note)

 

4)     Return to the ENGAGE update firmware page and tap "Send" which will send the local copy of the firmware in the mobile device to the Gateway

 

NOTE: A progress screen will show the transfer progress:

-        Gateway will flash AMBER LEDs when loading the firmware copy with the mobile device Wi-Fi.

-        Gateway will flash alternate RED/GREEN when the copied firmware is replacing the old version

-        Gateway will have a solid AMBER LED when the new firmware is being booted up

-        Gateway will have a solid BLUE LED when it returns to normal operation
