What is the error “TLS certificate validation failure” when trying to setup wifi on the NDEs?

Factors that can lead to TLS certificate validation failure on NDE:

• Certificate size is too large (NDE1.0,  Full certificate size must be < 4096)
• Hash(Sha-1) validation failure during root certificate install.  This is something HOST calculates and sends along with the root certificate.  Lock calculates and verifies the HASH before the cert is installed.
• Unsupported certificate is sent.
• Certificate Signature Validation failure.
• Is this happening on some or all of the locks within a site?
  • If some of the locks – Could be issue with specific router(s)
  • If most of the locks – it could be either their hosting service if PACS or our Engage hosting service
  • Any changes within the RF environment?  (Any new wireless cameras, devices added when this started happening that could interfere with Wifi)
• Review the audits from the failing locks and see if the issues started on the same day with the locks failing.
  • Same date suggests a change on certain date may have caused the issues.
• Engage or PACs,  Ask if there was any changes introduced within host around certificates or anything else on a given date.
• Check the battery voltage levels.  Wifi is not operational at low battery levels,  replace with fresh batteries and try again.
• Check firmware level on failing locks and see if the issue is around certain firmware version
  • Did the issues start happening when firmware was updated?
  • If the locks are on older version, update them to the latest firmware.
