What is the difference between "initialized" and "unprogrammed" cards?

An "initialized" credential indicates the card has been preprogrammed to Allegion specifications.  These types of credentials will allow OEMs, customers, and integrators who lease a PG1000 to encode their own credentials.  Initialized credentials will have an "88I" printed next to the credential part number.

"Unprogrammed" or "not programmed" credentials are basically that.  Cards that have not yet been programmed or initialized.  These are how we receive cards from the card manufacturer.  Customers who order these types of credentials can initialize, program, and encode them in any manner they choose.
