What is the difference between A2 pinning and A4 pinning?

Small format interchangeable cores (SFIC) have different pinning systems available to them.  These pinning systems consist of specific sets of pin measurements, key cut depths, step increments, and key cut spacing.

  • Schlage SFIC is available with A2 pinning only.
  • Falcon SFIC is available with either A2 or A4 pinning.

SPECS

  • A2 has an increment height of .0125".  A2 utilizes 2-step progression, key cuts 0-9, and a total pin stack of 23.
  • A4 has an increment height of .0210".  A4 utilizes 1-step progression, key cuts 0-5, and a total pin stack of 14
