1. Gather AUDITS from all doorsa) This step can be neglected if the latest audit information from your doors is not needed.
2. Backup your facility database
a) SMS Express will backup the facility database whenever the application is closed.
b) Exit the SMS Express application to backup your facility database
3. Copy the SMS Express database file to a safe location or folder
a) Open the location of the backup file (default folder location is C:\Program Files\Schlage Security Management System Express\Facilities). Your actual location may be different.
b) Copy the file with your facility name and the .lld file extension
c) Paste the copied facility file into a new directory of your choice.
3. Uninstall the current version of the SMS express
a) Open the Control Panel.
b) Open the Add or Remove Programs option.
c) Select Name from the Sort by drop down box.
d) Scroll down the list until you see SMS Express. Select it.
e) Click the Remove button. SMS Express will be uninstalled.
4. Delete the Schlage Security Management System Express folder
a) Go to My Computer.
b) Click on C:\
c) Click on Program Files.
d) Find and Select the Schlage Security Management System Express folder.
e) Right Click on the Schlage Security Management System Express folder and select Delete from the drop down options.
5. Install SMS Express version 4.0.0
a) See the Installing/Starting SMS Express chapter in the User’s Manual for details at SMS Express Manual)
6. Restore your facility database from the backup made in step 1 above
a) Log into into SMS Express as Manager with default password 123456
b) Go to Facility > then > Restore Backup
c) Navigate to and select the saved (backup) facility database from step 3 above
e) Click Open. The Existing Facility File Found window will open.
f) Click OK.
7. Update the "Door Type" of each CO or AD lock in your facility complete the update
