What is an RCK key cylinder?

An RCK or Residential Construction Key cylinder is typically used on new built homes. This will allow the builder to lock and unlock the doors as they secure the property during the build. Once the homeowner takes possession of the home, they will insert their issued homeowner keys and it will reprogram the key cylinder to their designated key code. This will render the Construction Key useless as that key will no longer function the lock.
