What is a bent tab strike?

A bent back strike is a strike where during the forming process, all of the material where the openings for the latch and/or deadbolt was not removed leaving a "tab" of material which is then bent back at approximately 90°. See illustration

The purpose of a bent tab is so that if you experience door rattle, the tabs can be bent back slightly (toward the open area) so that the tab holds the door tightly against the doorstop/molding and eliminates the rattle.

Schlage and Falcon offer several bent tab strikes for use with their locks. Below is a list of bent tab strikes and the lock series they can be used with.
