What Chexit wires must be connected as a "closed circuit" to the red wire to arm the device?

The Fire Alarm (FA - yellow), Inhibit (INH - Green), and Door Position Switch (DPS - Orange) wires all need to have a closed circuit with the +24VDC (red) wire for the device to arm.

A Normally Closed relay from the Fire Alarm system is required to be connected between the Yellow and Red wires to meet the code requirement that the delay function be disabled during a fire alarm.

A Normally Closed relay from an access control mechanism (or several Normally Closed relays in series from multiple access control mechanisms) can be connected between the Green and Red wires to turn off the Chexit feature while that circuit is open.  This connection is optional.  If no Access Control mechanism is being used for this function, connect the Green wire to the Red wire.

A Normally Closed Door Position Switch (or multiple DPS in series) can be connected between the Orange and Red wires to provide an indication to the Chexit device whether the door is open or shut.  This allows the device to alarm when the door is forced open while armed, to alarm if the door is still open when it tries to arm (lock up the device by running the motor), and can signal the device to arm shortly after the door shuts while the device is in the rearm state (solid red status light).  If a DPS is not being connected to the Chexit device, connect the Orange wire to the Red wire.

For TESTING purposes - You can connect the Orange (DPS), Green (Inhibit), and Yellow (Fire Alarm) wires to the red power wire (+24 volts DC) to arm the Chexit device.

Important:  You MUST connect fire alarm contacts to Chexit as shown in instructions for occupied building.
