What can be done to help eliminate excessive groaning, squeaking, or creaking noise from a manual closer cylinder body?

  1. If you are encountering a manual closer that has excessive groaning- this is more than likely the internal spring that is rubbing slightly on spring tube and the noise can be exacerbated by the type of door or other elements at the opening.  To resolve this do the following:
    1. Adjust the spring force in either direction slightly, a ¼ turn or so and recycle door.
    2. If A doesn’t resolve then adjust the closer all the way down to a size 1 (weakest spring setting) and then cycle the door several times with opening the door fully and allow door to close. – then reset closer spring size to desired size and recycle door.
    3. A or B should resolve this excessive groaning noise.

If you are still experiencing excessive noise after following the above steps, please send video of door cycling with volume up to [email protected] for review..
