What are the different KA options from Schlage?

Schlage offers five different options for cylinders Keyed Alike (KA):

  • Keyed Alike 0-bitted (KA 0-bit)
  • Keyed Alike 1-bitted (KA 1-bit)
  • Keyed Alike to Specific Combination
  • Keyed Alike by Quantity
  • Keyed Alike by Group

Keyed Alike 0-bit

  • Cylinder will be pinned with #0 bottom pin in all 6 chambers and keys will have 6 “0” cuts in it.
  • Available on all conventional cylinders and FSIC PRIMUS.  (Not available on FSIC non-Primus, SFIC, SL, or LFIC).

Keyed Alike 1-bit

  • Cylinder will be pinned with #1 bottom pin in all 6 chambers and keys will have 6 “1” cuts in it.
  • Available on FSIC non-Primus only.

Keyed Alike to Specific Combination

  • Cylinder will be keyed to a single combination per customer’s specification.  Customer’s combination must not be a MACS violator (if applicable.)
  • 50-001 charge will apply
  • Note that Keyed Alike to specific combination is not the same as Master Keyed to Specified Combination as different charges and rules can apply.

Keyed Alike by Quantity

  • Cylinders on a single line on the order will be keyed alike in sets - each set consisting of that number of cylinders.  For example, a line item of 20 locks ordered KA4 will be keyed with 5 sets of 4 keyed alike cylinders per set.
  • Keyed Alike by Quantity is written like so: KA2, KA4, KA8, etc.  The total quantity for that line item must be divisible by the KA quantity.  For example a line of 36 locks can be ordered KA4 but not KA8.
  • Keyed Alike by Quantity applies to a single line item only.  If cylinders from one line item need to be keyed alike with cylinders from another line item, use Keyed Alike by Group.

Keyed Alike by Group

  • Cylinders are keyed alike in sets across multiple line items on a single order.  Each group is given a number to identify which combination should be used for those cylinders.  (See notes for examples of Keyed Alike by Group)
  • Note that Keyed Alike by Group is not the same as Master Keyed by Group as different charges and rules can apply.
  • Keyed Alike by Group is commonly used to coordinate the keying for Full Size Interchangeable Cores (FSIC) and their respective control keys
