The Von Duprin 98/99 ALK kit will not sound the horn.
The following are reasons for why a Von Duprin Alarm Kit (ALK) or Falcon Exit Alarm (EA) will not sound the horn when the pushpad is activated/pressed.
Make sure key switch on the exit alarm ALK/EA is turned on. Wait for 20 seconds for the circuit board to chirp before you activate/press the pushpad. The alarm will not sound if the device is activated within 20 seconds of being turned on.
Make sure the switch contact - most often an RX switch monitoring the push pad but could be a Latchbolt Monitor (LX, LM, or DM) switch - is changing from Normally Open to a Closed state when the device is activated (use ohm meter to verify the switch activation).
Check the battery voltage or power supply voltage if hardwired, should read 9VDC from battery or 24VDC if hardwired.
If none of these steps correct the issue, check the circuit board for signs of damage. If replacement is warranted, replace with a complete ALK or EA Kit for the device involved. The circuit board is not sold separately.
