The Schlage electrified mortise lock motor makes noise when powered but will not lock or unlock after changing the lock handing.

This may occur when changing the hand of the lock supplied with the modular RX switch installed into the bottom of the lockcase.

Unlike the old solenoid design you must rehand the RX switch and handing screw or the lock will bind and not operate.  If the RX switch is not handed properly, it can cause interference with the locking catch in the lock case. This interference prevents the motor from driving the locking link to lock or unlock the lock.

Change lock handing with RX:

1. If the RX module is installed, remove the RX module.
2. Remove the handing screw.
3. Rotate the latch 180° (if necessary).
4. Reinstall the handing screw on the appropriate side.
5. Reinstall the RX module with the microswitch on the same side as the handing screw.

Please click here for video guide on re-handing mortise lock case and RX switch.

When the RX switch on a L9090, L9091, L9092, L9093, L9094, L9095 is handed incorrectly it can cause the outside lever to rotate in the upward motion, but stayed in the locked position when trying to rotate the lever in the downward motion. Please see here as the installation instructions will show how to properly hand the RX switch.
