Schlage Sense: Wi-Fi Connection Issues

If you have a Schlage Sense - BE479, Discontinued paired to Wi-Fi via the Schlage Home app and the Schlage Sense Wi-Fi Adapter - BR400, Discontinued and are experiencing Wi-Fi connection issues, please follow the steps below.

The issue is most commonly caused by a connection problem within the BR400. Fortunately, there are a few workarounds to help resolve this issue.

1. Soft Reset the BR400

The first troubleshooting step we recommend is to perform a soft reset on the Wi-Fi adapter. 

  1. With the Wi-Fi Adapter Plugged in:
  2. Press and hold the reset button for 5-6 seconds.
  3. Let go.
  4. Force close the Schlage Home App.
  5. Re-open the Schlage Home App.

If this does not restore your Wi-Fi Connection, there are a few more work arounds:

2. Uninstall and Reinstall the Schlage Home App

  1. Uninstall the app from your smartphone.
  2. Turn off your phone to clear temporary data.
  3. Reinstall the Schlage Home App from your device's app store.

3. If Necessary Split Networks

If you have a dual-band network, separate the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks to ensure compatibility.

  • Disable the auto-join feature on the 5 GHz network to maintain a stable connection with the 2.4 GHz network.
This can be accomplished through your ISP app or by calling your Internet Provider.

4. Optimize Adapter Placement

  • Relocate the Wi-Fi adapter to an outlet near your router to improve signal strength and connectivity.
