This issue is usually caused by a misaligned cam, a small internal mechanism that may have rotated improperly during installation, preventing the lock from functioning as intended. Fortunately, this problem can be easily fixed by reinstalling the lock correctly.

Steps to Fix a Misaligned Cam

1. Ensure the bolt is in the locked position with the door slightly ajar before proceeding.
2. Unscrew the two mounting bolts to remove the battery cover.
3. Carefully unplug the wires connecting the keypad to the inside assembly and to the battery.
4. Unscrew the bolts on either side of the driver bar to detach the mounting plate from the door.
5. Remove the mounting plate from the door.
6. Rotate the Driver Bar Toward the Hinges: This action will retract the bolt.
7. Before reinstalling the interior assembly, ensure the cam is in the correct position. The arrow on the black cam should align with the orange arrow on the mounting plate.

8. Re-install the interior assembly to the door. Ensure the mounting bolts remain uncovered.

   If the mounting bolts are covered, the cam is still misaligned.  Repeat steps 1-7 to realign the cam.

    

9. Reconnect the Wires to the Keypad: Plug the wires back into the keypad to restore functionality.
10. Factory Reset the Lock:

1. With the door open and the bolt retracted, press the Schlage logo on the outside keypad.
2. Turn the knob to operate the deadbolt.
3. The bolt should extend into the locked position, confirming the lock was installed correctly.
