Schlage Encode series locks set up with no Wi-Fi (Bluetooth Only)

The entire Schlage Encode Series, can be temporarily set up to operate via Bluetooth only, which is useful for new residences without Wi-Fi. While this setup allows limited remote access through the Schlage Home app, it is essential to note that not pairing the lock to Wi-Fi can cause rapid battery drainage if the lock was previously connected to Wi-Fi and lost connection.

Why Wi-Fi Matters for Battery Life

• No Wi-Fi Connection: If the Encode lock has never been paired to Wi-Fi, it will not search for a network, and battery life will remain unaffected.
• Lost Wi-Fi Connection: If the Encode lock was previously connected to Wi-Fi and loses connection, it will continuously search for a Wi-Fi network. This constant searching can cause batteries to drain rapidly, requiring frequent replacements.

Steps to Set Up Schlage Encode Series Locks with Bluetooth Only

Follow these steps to pair any Schlage Encode Series lock to the Schlage Home app via Bluetooth without connecting to Wi-Fi:

• Initiate the pairing process by tapping the plus icon located in the bottom right corner of the app's home screen.

• Select "Lock"

• Press "Yes" on the pop-up screen

• Select the Home you would like to add your lock to, or create a new one

• Name your Lock

• Press "Continue"

To Pair Your Lock Without Adding to a Home:

• Press "Just Add Lock" on the pop-up screen

• Name your Lock

• Press "Continue"

Please Adhere to In-App Instructions for the Following Steps

• If you have an Encode model , press "Continue"

• Press "Allow" if the Schlage Home App requests access to the camera

• When prompted, locate the QR code on the back of your lock, found under the battery cover.

• Use your phone's camera to scan the QR code.
  If you prefer a manual option, wait a few seconds and select "Try Another Method" from the pop-up window. Enter the 6-digit programming code when prompted:

• The app will ask if your lock is already installed.
  If it is not, follow the provided installation steps.
  If the lock is installed, select "Yes, lock is installed" to skip the installation instructions.

• When the app prompts you to:
  Gently press and quickly release the inside pairing button on the lock when prompted by the app. Do not hold down the button, as this will reset the lock. If the lock doesn’t flash blue with the first press, you can quickly press it again.

• Force close the app when you see "Connect to Wi-Fi"

• When you re-open the app the lock will be in your list of locks

How to Connect to Wi-Fi Once Available

When Wi-Fi is available, follow these steps to pair your Encode lock to Wi-Fi:

1. Open the Schlage Home App.
2. Navigate to the lock in question
3. Tap the three dots next to your lock name.
4. Select "Lock Settings" from the menu
5. Select Wi-Fi Settings.
6. Choose your Wi-Fi network and enter the network password.
7. Once connected to Wi-Fi, your lock will have full functionality, including enhanced remote access, real-time notifications, and improved battery performance.
