Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD)-505

•Parts are placed in a vacuum chamber with a semi-precious metal “target”. (Zirconium nitride)
•A vacuum is created in the chamber
•The lock components & “target” are electrically charged with opposite polarities.
•An inert gas is introduced into the chamber, & a high bolt of electricity causes the “target” to atomize. A thin coating is deposited one molecule at a time adhering to the precise contour of the part.
•The internal temperature reaches about 325 deg. F.
•A complete cycle in the chamber is about 45 min.

The coating thickness is about 40 microns .3-.5 millionths of a meter.
