Motorized Electronic Deadbolt Latch Will Not Extend Completely

Applies to models: BE468, BE469, BE479

Issue:  The lock will allow you to manually retract the bolt but you cannot extend it without forcing the motor or the bolt may only extend partially using the motor.

Environment:

  • New Installation
  • The Door is Open.  If it works when the door is open, but not when it is closed, see this article about door alignment (opens in a new window).
Cause:  This is caused  by one of the following reasons
  • The driver bar and thumb turn cam is not aligned.
  • The timing of the gears is not aligned with the handing of the door.

 Resolution: Uninstall the motor and verify the cam and drive bar are aligned properly before reinstalling the lock. If during the installation process the cam appears to be out of alignment simply turn the thumbturn slowly but firmly to the proper orientation. Follow this procedure to factory reset the product to complete the setup (opens in a new window).
