To integrate your Schlage lock with Airbnb for a seamless check-in experience, follow these steps:

First, ensure your lock is compatible with Airbnb

The compatible Schlage smart lock models are:

  • Schlage Encode Plus Smart WiFi Deadbolt

Before connecting your smart lock

Here are some helpful tips before getting started:

  • Check that your lock is compatible with Airbnb and has a keypad accessory, if required
    • Make sure that your lock is running the latest firmware version. You may not be able to connect your lock to Airbnb if you’re using an older version of the smart lock app.
  • Install your lock on your place’s entry door.
  • Connect your lock to wifi.
    • Your lock must be connected to wifi to connect to Airbnb. Be sure to connect to the wifi band that your lock manufacturer recommends (ex: 2.4 GHz).
  • Have your smart lock account login info ready.
    • During the connection process, you’ll log into your smart lock account to identify the lock you want to connect.
  • Some smart home platforms (ex: Apple HomeKit) may interfere with Airbnb's ability to discover your smart lock.
    • If you’re having trouble, try disconnecting your smart lock from the smart home platform and then connecting to Airbnb again.

From the Schlage Home App:

  1. Navigate to the "Works with Airbnb" section.
  2. This will redirect you to the Airbnb App.
  3. Follow in app instructions to complete pairing.

From the Airbnb Site or App:

  1. Go to the "Arrival Guide" section.
  2. Select "Check-in Method"
  3. Select "Connect your locks for smooth check-in."
    Select "Smart Lock"
  4. Click "Connect."
Select "Schlage" from the list of options. This will display a Schlage Account login screen.
  5. Enter your Schlage Home app credentials to link the accounts.

By following these steps, you'll successfully connect your Schlage lock with Airbnb, ensuring a smoother check-in process for your guests.

What happens when you connect a smart lock to Airbnb

Once you’ve connected a smart lock to Airbnb and added it to your listing, your guests for confirmed bookings that haven't yet started and new bookings will automatically receive a unique code that’s only active during their trip. Codes will be sent to guests’ email and Airbnb messages for convenient access and can always be found in their Airbnb trip guide.
With your smart lock connected, we’ll let you know when your guests have checked in for the first time.

How unexpected lock issues are handled

To keep things running smoothly, your connected smart lock will have backup codes that can be shared with a guest in the event that your lock is offline at the time of booking and a code can’t be generated for them before check-in. A backup code may also be shared if your lock is offline when a trip change is made (ex: your guest extends their stay by a night), and their existing code won’t work for their entire stay.
When connecting your smart lock to Airbnb, you’ll add a backup entry method that will only be shared with your guests in the event of unexpected lock issues that prevent them from being able to access your place (ex: dead batteries or a broken keypad).

How you’re still in control of your connected smart lock

Rest assured, the lock is yours. You can still manage and change personal codes from your smart lock app—like those for your cleaner or co-hosts—as you’d like, allowing you to host in the way that works best for you. Airbnb can never see any of the codes on your smart lock and will never change personal codes that you've added to your lock.
You also have the flexibility to adjust when guests’ codes are active. If you need to change a guest's code or access after they've checked in, find out how to manage your guests’ smart lock codes.

Which hosts are eligible to connect a smart lock to Airbnb

The smart lock feature is only available for listings located in the US and Canada. However, if you are connected to Airbnb using a third-party Property Management System (PMS), you may be able to use its integration with smart locks to send codes to Airbnb guests.
