NOTE: This guide is for Isonas branded hardware only: RC03, RC04, and IP Bridges.
It is common practice to plan access control schemes prior to hardware installation.
In Pure Access Cloud, it is possible to create Access Points and Access Point Groups prior to readers and hardware being installed. This is completed by adding new Access Points with placeholder, or dummy, MAC addresses.
Adding the reader:
As per the user guide here:
1) On the "Access Points" page in pure access, click the Green "+" button.
2) Choose "Create Access Point"
3) Select "No" for Is your device ready to connect?
4) In the MAC Address field, input a MAC Address in this format: 00-18-C8-AA-XX-XX, where XX-XX is a random hexadecimal number between 0 and F, range: 00-18-C8-AA-00-00 to 00-18-C8-AA-FF-FF.
Multiple attempts may need to be made as Pure Access Cloud checks for the same MACs on the system. If it finds a duplicate and states "reader is in use on another tenant", change the number and try again.
5) Select proper Device Type for the planned hardware to install.
6) Fill in the fields for:
7) Click "Configure Later"
Now the device will be added to the Access Point List in the tenant so proper schedules and Access Point Groups can be created.
Once the new Access Point is installed, to change over to the correct MAC:
1) Go to Access Points page.
2) Click on the three vertical dots to the far right of the access point's name to be updated.
3) Click "Deactivate Access Point"
4) Click the three vertical dots again for that access point.
5) Click "Edit Access Point"
6) Input the new MAC address of the access point.
7) Click "Active" slider to turn it green. This will reenable the Access Point in the system.
8) Click "Save"
The new MAC address of the device will be saved to the dummy placeholder. At this point the reader will connect if network configurations are correct. This can be updated via the Isonas Configuration Tool and the guide is listed here.
