Is the MA lock handing field reversible?

The MA lock is field reversible, except for the MA161 function (Connecting room/exit latch). The MA161 handing must be specified at the time of ordering and cannot be re-handed in the field.

The process involves three potential steps depending on what hand is needed.

  • Rotating latchbolt - Changes swing of lock.  ex (RH to RHR) or inswing vs outswing
  • Moving handing screw - Changes handing of lock.  ex (RH to LH)
  • Reversing lever positions - The levers are handed and can only be installed when the mounting holes on both levers are aligned.  This may require reversing positions of the inside and outside lever.
