Is the Falcon MA911 mortise lock handed?

The mortise chassis used in MA911, the classroom deadbolt function, is non-handed. The same chassis can be used in Left Hand, Right Hand, Left Hand Reverse, Right Hand Reverse locks. However, the design is for standard door thickness, 1-3/4”, installed in the center, only.

This lock ships with the standard Falcon thumb turn. The deadbolt can only be retracted from the inside and not thrown. This is accomplished by a lost motion in the lock case.

  • Due to low demand and field issues with the inside thumbturn operation, we discontinued the MA911 Classroom Deadlock function with Escutcheon trim (MA911 NAPA) effective September 3, 2024. The Falcon MA911 classroom deadlock function with Gala Rose (G) trim will continue to be offered. For customers requiring the Escutcheon trim, the Schlage L9463 is available.
