May 2007: Commercial Security announces the release of a redesigned small format interchangeable core (SFIC)
and offering of an additional finish - oil rubbed bronze (613) - to its Schlage Everest B product line.
The SFIC was redesigned to improve quality and longevity. Customers will feel a significant improvement
in terms of smoother operation over any other SFIC currently available. The change includes integration of
several manufacturing processes into the individual components' pre-assembly phase to increase accuracy
and tolerance. The additional finish (613) will enhance our offering portfolio. The (613) cores are available
as uncombinated for now and the combinated option will follow soon.

Q: What is the reason for the change?
A: The current “match drill” process is cumbersome and can create misalignment. The new process will eliminate the “match drill” process and will increase the quality and performance of the product.
Q: What are the visual differences between the current and new SFIC?
A: There are a few visual differences. For example the new SFIC is finished on the parts that are exposed when the core is installed (the face plate and plug face). The parts that are concealed are not finished. Another example is the new faceplate which covers the top circle of the product (see photos below).
Q: What finishes are available?
A: In addition to the 626 and 606 we added the 613 (607 less oil) finish.
Q: Will part numbers, price and keyways stay the same?
A: Yes they will. There is no change to part numbers, price or keyways.
Q: Why is the lubrication process different for uncombinated cores?
A: Customers requested that uncombinated cores not be lubricated to prevent accumulation of graphite dust in packaging. We are adding the lubrication instruction sheet to each package of uncombinated cores.
