Investigate: Why won't my small key fobs credentials read reliably on my AD Series or CO Series locks?

The small gray HID prox fobs may be difficult to read or have very little read range on AD Series and CO Series locksets.

Customers have reported that as much as 10% of their old HID Fobs will read OK in our legacy products (CM/C/etc) but will NOT read on a AD series or CO Series lockset.  This is because the legacy products allow the HID Fob to be inserted directly into the lock antenna for a "Less than Zero" read range.  The AD Series and CO Series locks are not designed to provide this "Less than zero" read range and a small percentage of HID Fobs will not read reliably or at all.


The SMALL Proximity FOBs from HID that demonstrate this issue have been discontinued and replaced by their manufacturer






 

For Improved Read Range Performance:

- On PRK and MTK credential readers, (readers with keypads) DO NOT present the HID prox fobs to the little "RF" symbol at the bottom of the keypad.  DO present the fob directly between the "5" and the "8" buttons on the keypad.  This is the center of the Proximity RF antenna and has the most sensitivity
- On PR and MT models (with no keypad), DO present the HID prox fob in the center of the little "RF" symbol in the center of the credential reader

Customers should purchase their Prox Fob credentials from IR (Part number - SXF7610) for guaranteed performance
