I cannot install the inside half of my Schlage Connect Smart Deadbolt (BE469) or Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt (BE479).

If you are having issues installing your lock, it is likely due to an incorrect driver bar or cam position. This is a common installation error and takes just 5-10 minutes to fix using the steps below:

• Take the thumbturn assembly off the inside of the door by removing two screws - one above the thumbturn and one above battery pack
• Unplug the wire from back 
• While inside thumbturn assembly is completely off the door:  
• Rotate the thumbturn three full turns clockwise. It should make a motor noise.
• Rotate the thumbturn three full turns counter-clockwise. It should make a motor noise.
• Make sure the thumbturn is vertical. See this video for more.
• Flip the whole assembly upside-down and make sure the silver hollowed out piece is horizontal, flat on the bottom with the bump cut out on the top left. See picture for proper cam position.
• Make sure the door is unlocked and reinstall thumbturn assembly 

Next, complete a Factory Default Reset of the lock:  

• Make sure door is open and unlocked
• Disconnect the battery connector from the top of the battery pack 
• Press and hold the exterior Schlage logo firmly  
• While holding down the Schlage logo on the outside, reconnect the battery on the inside
• Enter one of the original 4-digit user codes to perform the handing setup. User codes can be found on the User Guide.
• The lock will run through its handing setup. It should automatically lock and unlock, extending the bolt and retracting it, finishing the reset.
