I add a HomeKit user, but nothing happens / I receive the error "Failed to Add User Operation Timed Out".

Make sure the recipient email address is correct. Make sure the recipient is ready to accept the HomeKit invitation on his/her iOS device that is logged into the iCloud account given. Sign out of your iCloud account, then sign back into the iCloud account and try again.
