When you get the config file from Technical Support: - rename the attached file (from xxxxx.rsi) to xxxxx.zip (where 'xxxxx' is your config number) - unzip the file - make sure you run the fconfig utility in XP mode, if you are running on any operating system more recent than Windows XP ****** in WinXP mode, after plugging in USB cable, click USB -> attach USB Serial Controller D; refresh device manager view to see USB COM port ******* - at the reader, setup communications to the PC via RS-232; if you have an ethernet card installed, backup your users (either to software or to another handreader), remove the ethernet card and cold boot (set back to factory defaults) the reader, then set it up for RS-232 communication: * under password menu = 2, keep pressing ‘No’ until you get to “set serial” -> press ‘Yes’ * for “set RS422/485” press ‘No’ * for “set RS-232” press ‘Yes’ * set the baud rate = 9600; if it is anything else, keep pressing ‘no’ until you see ‘9600’ then press ‘enter’ * for “use RS-232 for 0-printer 1-host” press “1” you should be back at the “set serial” menu; press ‘clear’ to exit - run the fconfig utility (see instructions in fconfig3.doc file) and fill in xxxxx (where xxxxx is your config number) when asked for the ‘config number’
