How to set up guest access codes in Homekit?

In the Home app you can set up an access code for people who need temporary access to your home by following the instructions below.

  1. Open the Home app on your iPhone. 
  2. From the Home tab touch and hold the lock.
  3. Tap Accessory Details
  4. Tap cog wheel
  5. Tap Manage Access 
  6. Tap Add guest
  7. Give the guest a name (e.x. dog walker) 
  8. Turn on the locks you want them to have access too
  9. Tap Change Access Code 
  10. Enter an access code
  11. Tap Done.
  12. Touch and hold the access code
  13. Tap Share
  14. Choose a sharing option, then share the access code with the guest.

You can return to this screen to change the access code, turn off access to some or all of the locks, or remove the guest.

 

If you have paired your lock to Apple Homekit you will not be able to add new codes through the Schlage home app.

You will receive an error message stating:

"This lock is paired with Apple HomeKit. To manage access use the Apple Home app."
