How To Send Virtual Keys

Virtual keys are invites that can be sent to other people; which grants them to access your lock through the Schlage Home app.

To send a Virtual Key:

*Please note, the receiver must create a Schlage Home account prior to starting

1. Open the Schlage Home app.
2. Tap the People icon labelled “Access” at the bottom-right corner of the screen.
3. Tap the “Virtual Keys” tab at the bottom-right (iOS) or top-right (Android).
4. Tap the “+” symbol at the top-right.
5. Enter a name for the Virtual Key.
6. Choose the level of permission. (Admin Key grants the holder access to remotely control the Encode Lock, just like the owner, and have access to user codes and settings. In contrast, Guest Virtual Keys grant holders the ability to lock and unlock the Encode Lock, but only when they are within Bluetooth range.).
7. Tap “Save” at the top-right (Android) or “Continue” at the bottom (iOS).
8. Select how you would like to send the invite. (Certain options may not work, such as “Air Drop” (iOS).
9. Once the recipient receives the invite, they will need to tap the link that’s included in the invite. This will take them to the Schlage Home app saying that they have been given access to the owner’s lock. The recipient can then name the lock and tap “Add Lock”, which will complete the process.

If the recipient is not receiving the Virtual Key, you can navigate back to the Virtual Keys page, delete the Virtual Key, and re-send.

• To delete the Virtual Key, swipe right on the Virtual Key name then tap “Delete”.

If an iPhone user is having trouble opening a Virtual Key, make sure the pop up blocker is turned off in Safari.  It will prevent the link from opening the new lock in the recipients phone.
